Vimeo Video Downloader browser extension · Last updated: 2026-07-29

This privacy policy describes how the extension handles information. The extension is designed to work locally in your browser.

1. Summary

2. Data the extension accesses

Data Purpose Stored where
Vimeo media metadata (title, thumbnail, qualities, playlists) Detect downloadable videos On-device memory / chrome.storage
Download history Show history in the side panel chrome.storage.local
Settings Remember preferences chrome.storage.local
Temporary HLS segments during merge Build a single MP4 On-device temporary storage, then removed when possible

3. Data we do not collect

We do not intentionally collect or send to our servers: account contents, payment data, precise location, unrelated browsing history, analytics/ad IDs, or your finished video file (it is saved via the browser Downloads folder). This extension does not include third-party analytics or ad SDKs.

4. Permissions

Tabs, navigation, scripting, and side panel APIs power detection and UI. Downloads saves the file. Storage holds settings/history/temp merge data. Offscreen documents run local remux. Host permissions cover Vimeo and its media CDNs only for fetching media you requested.

5. Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information. Network requests go to Vimeo and related CDNs only as needed for download.

6. Retention & choices

History and settings stay on your device until you clear them or uninstall. You can clear history in the side panel. Files already saved to Downloads remain unless you delete them yourself.

7. Contact

Use the support email or URL shown on the Chrome Web Store / Microsoft Edge Add-ons listing for privacy questions.
